On September 12–13, 2026, Samarkand will once again become a center of international sport. Silk Road Samarkand will host Challenge Samarkand 2026, bringing together professional athletes, amateur competitors and active lifestyle enthusiasts from around the world.
Over two days, participants and guests can look forward to a dynamic sporting program. In addition to the main Middle Distance race, the event will feature Sprint Distance, Kids Run and Women’s Run, offering athletes of different ages and levels of experience an opportunity to take part.
The highlight of the event will be the Middle Distance race — a true test of speed, endurance and determination. Athletes will complete 1.9 km of swimming, 86 km of cycling and 21.5 km of running.
On September 12, the program will feature the Sprint Distance, Kids Run and Women’s Run. On September 13, professional athletes, amateur competitors and relay teams will take on the main Middle Distance race.
One of the distinctive features of Challenge Samarkand is its route, which brings together the modern character of the city, Samarkand’s historic heritage and the scenic surroundings of Silk Road Samarkand. The swimming stage will take place in the rowing canal, while the cycling route will lead participants from the resort toward some of Samarkand’s landmark locations. The running stage will unfold across the Silk Road Samarkand territory, along the picturesque canal and through the Eternal City complex.
