The FIDE Grand Swiss and FIDE Women’s Grand Swiss 2025 are set to take place from September 3 to 16 at Silk Road Samarkand.

The tournaments are part of the official qualification cycle for the 2026 World Chess Championship. A total of 172 players are registered to compete — 116 in the Grand Swiss and 56 in the Women’s Grand Swiss, representing all continents.

Both tournaments will be held in 11 rounds under the Swiss system.

The top two finishers in each event will qualify for the 2026 Candidates Tournament and the 2026 Women’s Candidates Tournament, respectively.
